For most of Cottage Grove, trash is collected on Thursdays, and recycling is every other Thursday. Heavy trash and tree waste are collected on the third Wednesday of the month. Confirm your collection schedule here!

• Get your trash and recycling bin: Dial 3-1-1 or go to the 311 website to request your trash and recycling bins, and they will be delivered to your place of residence.

• Know your trash days: Download the HTX Collects app for iOS and Android, and you’ll never miss trash day again! Put in your address and get notifications for trash days (including heavy trash like junk and yard waste). It will also let you know when pickup is delayed. Tree waste is collected during odd numbered months, and junk waste is the even numbered months.

• Know what’s recyclable: In Houston, you can recycle glass, but you can’t recycle #6 items. Never bag your recyclables, even with a bag that says you can use it. 

• Recycling centers: There isn’t a recycling center close to here, but the best one to go to is Westpark Recycling Center (5500 Westpark, Houston, TX 77057. They do no-contact recycling drop-off and take all sorts of things! Here’s their website for more info.
